New Tips for a New Year: Financial Literacy for Your Kids

As prices continue to rise nationwide, the average cost of gas is expected to increase at least until April.  CNBC reported that prices at the pump are at record highs for this time of year, meaning the country could face a greater climb in 2013.

According to another recent report, today’s national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.75, the highest on record for this calendar year. (Via AAA)

High gas prices aren’t stopping teens from getting on the road. Whether it’s their commute to school, soccer practice or their after school job, high gas prices are affecting teens just as much as adults. Last year, The Sun Chronicle reported teenagers use an average of 143 gallons of gasoline per year.  At current prices, that costs teens over $500, approximately 33 percent of his or her income.
